USAID Education TVC 2013
Our education program is active on primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. One of our main goals is to improve the reading skills of children in primary grades. To achieve this aim, we are helping improve the quality of teaching, student assessment, and learning materials. We are also upgrading schools, libraries, and other facilities to give children the chance to study in environments conducive to learning.
We launch older students into rewarding careers through several generous scholarship programs that fund study at Pakistani and U.S. universities. We work closely with higher education institutions to ensure they offer programs that enhance student employability and engage in research relevant to the needs of business, government, and communities.
Close partners in our programs are provincial and local departments of education and the Higher Education Commission. We also encourage parents and civil society organizations to become involved in the education of children and the governance of local schoools.
USAID has trained more than 10,000 school administrators and teachers and helped provincial governments introduce new associate and bachelor degrees to to raise the qualifications of new teachers going forward.
